常见问题集

Q. How is the Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD) for Microsoft .NET credential different from the Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) for Microsoft .NET certification?
A. The MCAD for Microsoft .NET credential is appropriate for professionals who use Microsoft technologies to develop and maintain department-level applications, components, Web or desktop clients, or back-end data services or work in teams developing enterprise applications. MCSDs for Microsoft .NET are lead developers who design and develop leading-edge enterprise solutions with Microsoft development tools, technologies, platforms, and the Microsoft .NET Framework. The scope of responsibility of MCSDs encompasses that of MCADs and goes beyond it.

Q. How can I determine whether I am an appropriate candidate for earning the MCAD for Microsoft .NET certification? What skills are covered?
A. The MCAD certification is appropriate for professionals who use Microsoft technologies to develop and maintain department-level applications, components, Web or desktop clients, or back-end data services, or work in teams developing enterprise applications. To earn the MCAD credential, candidates are expected to have one to two years of relevant work experience or the equivalent in these functions. Typical job titles include programmer, programmer/analyst, and software developer.

Q. I am already an MCSD. Should I pursue the MCAD for Microsoft .NET credential?
A. You may want to consider pursuing the MCAD for Microsoft .NET certification if the credential represents your current responsibilities in application development and maintenance. You should pursue the credential most applicable to your scope of responsibilities. The MCAD for Microsoft .NET credential is offered with the Microsoft .NET developer exams and will not be developed on older technologies.

Q. According to the Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) for Microsoft .NET requirements, if I earn the MCSD for Microsoft .NET certification, I will automatically earn the MCAD for Microsoft .NET certification. Is this correct?
A. Yes, that is correct. The exams required to earn the MCAD for Microsoft .NET credential are a direct subset of the exams required for the MCSD for Microsoft .NET credential. You will earn the MCAD on your way to earning the MCSD.

Q. The MCAD for Microsoft .NET requirements state that if I use exam 70-305 or 70-315 to satisfy the core requirement, then I may use either exam 70-306 or 70-316 as an elective. If I use 70-306 or 70-316 to satisfy the core requirement, then I may use either exam 70-305 or 70-315 as an elective. They also state that if I were to pass both 70-305 and 70-315 (or both 70-306 and 70-316, or both 70-310 and 70-320), I would not receive credit for each one. Why not?
A. In each of the pairs of exams listed above (70-305 and 70-315; 70-306 and 70-316; 70-310 and 70-320), credit will be granted for only one exam in a pair, even if a candidate passes both exams in a pair. Each pair of exams covers essentially the same skills—only the language differs. Microsoft certification requirements are based, in part, on testing a range of skills and responsibilities within a specific job. Granting credit for both exams of a pair would be granting the credit twice for the same skill set.

Q. I don’t see Microsoft Visual C++ .NET, Visual J#, or Visual FoxPro exams in the requirements. Why?
A. Microsoft Certification exams are designed and developed to test a range of skills within a job role. On an ongoing basis, Microsoft evaluates available Microsoft Certification exams to ensure their continued relevance. As appropriate, new Microsoft Certification exams are developed and existing Microsoft Certification exams are updated or discontinued. As MCP exam plans are updated, Microsoft announces the plans through existing communication channels such as this Web site and the MCP Flash.

Q. Do I have to use exams in the same programming language to complete my MCAD?
A. No, you do not have to complete your MCAD credential using exams in the same programming language. The content of the exams focuses on building Web- or Windows-based applications or Web services. Different programming languages can be used to accomplish the same task. Therefore, Microsoft offers the Microsoft .NET developer exams in various languages to give candidates the opportunity to select the language or languages they prefer when creating the corresponding type of application or Web service.

Q. I thought Microsoft .NET development focused on the Microsoft .NET Framework. Why aren't Microsoft .NET Framework exams included in the requirements?
A. The core exams for both the MCSD for Microsoft .NET and MCAD for Microsoft .NET certifications are based on using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET as the development environment. Because the Microsoft .NET Framework is an integral part of Visual Studio .NET, the core exams will cover the framework as it relates to the specific exam objectives.

Q. I am an MCP. If I earn the MCAD for Microsoft .NET credential, will that help me eventually move up to the MCSD for Microsoft .NET certification?
A. The MCAD for Microsoft .NET credential represents the job functions of a developer. If you are planning to pursue the MCSD for Microsoft .NET certification, the MCAD for Microsoft .NET certification provides you with a credential that represents a subset of skills required by the MCSD for Microsoft .NET credential.

Q. What benefits will I receive if I earn the MCAD for Microsoft .NET credential?

Microsoft certification demonstrates that you have the ability to successfully implement Microsoft business solutions for your organization or client.

Q. Where should developers go for information, and what should they look for when seeking skills with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework?
A. To ensure that developers have quick and easy access to technical training resources specific to their needs, Microsoft offers a detailed list of Microsoft .NET Framework content offerings that correlate to specific skills on our Skills Resources for Developers page.

Q. What can I do to begin preparing?
A. First, we recommend that you gain experience with the Visual Studio .NET product and become familiar with developing applications and services in this environment. We recommend the following four steps:

1.
Become familiar with the programming language(s) you want to use.

2.
Learn to use the Microsoft .NET Framework.

3.
Learn to develop Web or Windows applications that leverage the Microsoft .NET platform and utilize Web services.

4.
Learn to create and publish Web services.

Microsoft offers training courses and books that map to each of these steps.

Q. What content do you have to help me prepare right now?
A. Roadmaps to the skills development and career opportunities that the Microsoft .NET platform provides for developers and recommended learning pathways through Official Microsoft Learning Products and Microsoft Press books are available now. In addition to your hands-on experience working with the product, you may want to take advantage of the tools and training on the Get Started with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Development page to help you prepare.

Q. Why do I have to take two or more courses in order to acquire the skills assessed in some exams?
A. Although Official Microsoft Learning Products help certification candidates acquire the skill set tested by certification exams, that is only part of the goal. It is equally important that Microsoft courseware is able to help students develop the skills they need to do their jobs. Taking certification exams is one way to measure whether students have acquired those essential skills through experience as well as study. Ultimately, the real test in applying these skills comes on the job. From the employer’s perspective, that is the only test that counts.

Microsoft Certification exams test skills and problem resolution at the highest level. However, to reach that level, a candidate may have to acquire several tiers of enabling skills. It may take more than one course to deliver those skills. Training takes you on a journey, and the exams tell you whether you have arrived.

Q. When will MCAD for Microsoft .NET exams be available?
A. Exams are available now. Register today.
